Have a look at this Entertainment Weekly interview with Joss Whedon talking about the new Buffy comic series - link. (& apologies - I have no idea where I got this link from). He's describing it as Season 8, which is probably about as official as you're going to get.
But it does link to one strange side effect to getting a basic sky / free sat package is the amount of buffy episodes Louise & I have watched now. It's just one of those great, fun series that stands up to repeated viewing. Of course it does help that there appears to be a rule with satellite that you're not allowed to be more than 30 minutes away from an episode of Buffy.
Then again, it also seems to be the rule for episodes of Stargate, Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier, Two & a Half Men and endless rubbish quiz or gameshows.
