Silver medallist!!!
We are so unbelievably proud.
She got there and immediately the nerves got the better of her. No wonder - the hall was absolutely packed with competitors, parents, coaches and it was just all too much. It took us a while to calm her down and convince her that she was going to be fine and to just do her best.
In the end, she did so much better than her best. Both routines went really well.
Routine 1: 6.3, 6.5, 6.7, 6.8
Routine 2: 6.4, 6.4, 6.5, 6.5
We knew she'd done well, but had no idea how well until they announced the positions in time honoured reverse order. There were about 18 children in the under 9s class and they announced the top 8. When it got to #5 I put the camera away, thinking she must have come 9th or 10th. But then they announced the silver medallist.
Very, very proud indeed.
