The latest Six Music Synth Documentary was on last night. It's on all week it seems - they've called it "the great bleep forward" Very droll.
Tonight they raced ahead to the stuff you get the feeling they really wanted to talk about all along. So it was all about the birth of synthpop in the late 70s & early 80s; Human League, Depeche Mode, OMD et al. I have to admit a huge love of this time. Generally anything around that time that involved several band members all standing behind a synth was okay by me.
Still bloody enjoyable though.
& thanks to Joe of the FPI blog for the comment on the last post about the documentary. I agree completely with him about Jean Michel Jarre. He's always overlooked and has done an awful lot for electronic music. Unfortunately all people seem to associate him with is the lavish concerts and the fannying about with laser harps and talking to the Space Shuttle. But his music is something I can heartily recommend to you all.
