The Oxford Murders - Guillermo Martinez

The Oxford Murders (Amazon Link)

I'm a sucker for anything that looks like it might be similar to Umberto Eco at his best and this one, with it's promises of a combination of mathematics and murder, looked to be a contender.

A series of murders are carried out in Oxford, all seemingly linked to a cryptic symbol and a mathematical pattern.

Sadly it's all high concept but really poor execution. And I was hoping for much more. Pity.
The story is slight, badly written and pretty uninteresting. But it's also an incredibly easy and quick read. 200 odd pages in 2 nights. Nothing to really engage with and nothing to live up to the promise of the publicity I'd read about it.
