On TV & a Sky update - what's wrong with Music on Music Television?

As noted on previous posts I'm not really watching much TV. Too much blogging, too much reviewing comics, too much reading and not enough good stuff to convince me to turn on the TV has seen my TV viewing reduced to the meagre level it is now.

Currently I'm watching:
24
Nip / Tuck (sort of)
Heroes
Rescue Me
Still catching up with Battlestar Galactica series 1 & 2 on dvd.
Odd QI, Frasier & Black Books when I see them on and have a spare half hour to relax.

Lost interest in / cannot be bothered tuning in:
Lost
Life on Mars (missed episode 2 - Louise said it wasn't that good. May well watch the last few to see how it turns out but no longer must see TV)
Ugly Betty

But the biggest change is that we've changed the Sky package round and gone for Variety and Music. Which means I now have all the music channels to watch. Of course, most of them have absolute rubbish on them, but it is nice to put on to see a few videos every so often.

The thing that perplexes me most is this: When did MTV stop showing music videos? And isn't that against the trades descriptions act or something. Every night so far it's been nothing but South Park, Jackass (or crappy derivative thereof), Real World (or even crappier derivative) or some stupid thing involving real(ish) people. No music, no music videos.
Really, what is wrong with the world?
