Well, we won. But were we convincing? No.
Beckham did well, setting up two goals.
But was it okay to pick him? No.
And as I've said before this is no reflection on Beckham. I've always said how much I admire him and how good a captain and player he's been for England.
I still think it's essential for the future that Macclaren starts looking to World Cup 2010 already. And to do this he's got to select a team that will want to get us there, will want to perform, will still have the drive and energy to be playing at the top of their game at the World Cup. Beckham, sadly, doesn't qualify for this.
