Allerthorpe Lakeland Park and the Minster Falconry Centre, another of Pocklington's delights

Molly and I took a trip down to Allerthorpe Lakeland Park the other day. It's a couple of miles out of Pocklington, set up a few years ago as a Watersports centre.
And it's great. a couple of huge lakes, nice walks, watersports if you want them, nice Coffee Shop and most importantly of all; great playground.

And to top it all off, it's also the site for the Minster Falconry Centre.
A collection of a few dozen Birds of Prey which is really beginning to take off (forgive the pun). Every day they put on three flying displays and afterwards you get a chance to handle the birds should you wish.
Molly and I had a lovely time and we're thinking of sending Molly along every Sunday morning to join in the Young Falconers Club.

Molly and the Barn Owl.

A very clever and mischievous Harris Hawk at arm's length

A beautiful Saker Falcon, either at rest (above), or in spectacular flight (below).
