I am sorry, you cannot change a classic comic strip into a manga. It's wrong!!! It would be like painting a keyboard red or making he three stooges into a modern movie. Some things are better left alone. Classic is a classic, nothing to be changed.
Well, I think it's a context issue. As a style sheet for a new "Manga-ised" version, whether comic or cartoon, I'd agree - definitely wrong.
As a one-off, artist having a laugh and doing a quick reinterpretation - is there really any harm?
Also: "Classic is a classic, nothing to be changed"? Very dodgy ground. For a start that rules out any modern reinterpretation of ANYTHING. Let's start with Shakespeare and go from there. You're not allowing anything to be re-done?
