The latest Word magazine has a great article talking with Harry Shearer (Spinal Tap, Simpsons).
He makes some lovely comments about the USA, describing it as:
"It is the most powerful country in the world and it's in love with two big ideas; it's own innocence, and the impossibility of it ever losing at anything"
"One of the main things that stands out is that America is an adolescent country and it acts like a teenager - obsessed with it's own appearance. This also manifests itself in it's contempt for history (because it's what your dad did) and that way of going about the world like a recent college grad looking for a bar fight".
