Happy Father's Day to me .......

Woken up this morning by extremely happy and excitable child, bouncing on the bed with a big bag of goodies. We had hand made stickers, badges, a beautiful new #1 daddy mug and two beautiful cards with incredibly sugar coated words inside.

Exactly the sort of wonderful stuff I was looking forward to today. It may well be one of my favourite days of the year. Molly really is the best present any father could wish for. Every year I get scared that this will be the year she finally grows up and doesn't really need me as much and each year I realise I'm just being stupid and as long as I do the job right the position of Daddy is something that will continue for as long as I'm breathing.

Being Daddy is my favourite thing in the entire world. When it happened I was amazed at how much fun and how great it was. And every day since then I've always had something happen with Molly that makes me just glad to be alive and doubly glad to have someone call me Daddy.

Father's Day 2008

What a lovely day!
As I expected, awoken early by a noisy bundle of excited energy jumping on me and carrying a big carrier bag of presents.......

These are they. Obviously I knew about the ipod speakers, after all I did order them and help pay for them. But the photo frame, door hanger, badge and card were all her own work. And it was really lovely. If I hadn't been so bloody tired I may have cried.

(Dear My Lovely Daddy - that's bad grammar, but a gorgeous sentiment)

(My badge and the door hanger - specially adapted to read: "On the computer")

After pressies, it was breakfast and relaxing. And then more relaxing, which somehow led to more relaxing. Relaxing is nice. I should do it more often it seems.
In fact, we relaxed our way to tonight's treat, a meal out at our local Italian Pane e Vino followed by Doctor Who.

This has been a truly lovely weekend capped off by a great day.
All through it I've been reminded just why she's so very special and why I'm very, very lucky to be known as Daddy.
Thank you molly. x.

Busy weekend part 3: MY DAY is Father's Day.

Finishing up for the night now. Because tomorrow is Father's Day.
I shall be woken up at a very early hour to be given presents and cards galore.
It's always lovely and so is she.

Friday Afternoons - only good if you're not working.. and Father's Day. Looks like a good weekend then ....

Oh how I love Friday afternoons. I'm not meant to work them but often I get sucked into doing something and find it impossible to leave. But I've made a decision from now until the end of term to finish on time, grab my stuff and head out, no matter what happens.

So today, at 1:10, already 10 minutes late, I turned off the new laptop I'd been installing and grabbed my bag. Without thinking I hit shut down and install updates. Fool. It's Windows, how many updates will have been released since the laptop was made? 56 of the bastards. It was half one before I got out today. Bah, Windows.

But that meant I could still get home, put my feet up and relax properly before having to pick wonderful daughter up from school. A cup of coffee, sunshine, radio 5 with Mayo and Kermode. Heaven is a simple thing sometimes.

So I enter the weekend feeling very relaxed and happy with myself. Molly's all better now after feeling ill earlier in the week and she's looking forward to waking me up nice and early on Sunday for MY day.
Mother's Day and Father's Day are both celebrated in this house (any excuse for Molly to open presents really). Except that this year, for the first time ever I've cheated slightly and put some money into buying my present. Molly doesn't know it but I part funded the buying of my present: a Logitech Ipod speaker system. A bit bigger than the JBL donut I've got now, but great sound and portable with a full remote. Very nice indeed.

Plus I'll get some proper surprises as well - at least a fab card and maybe something else she's made for me. It's always a marvellous morning. Last year I got a beautiful T-shirt and a model of me made out of clay. Gorgeous. Looking forward to it already.
